How to manage API Tokens as an API Admin
This guide will help provide further details on how to manage API tokens as an Erudus API Admin for your business.
What is an API Admin?
Erudus introduced API V2 in June 2025, and as a result, we have developed a new Erudus API portal. Within this portal, as an Erudus API Admin, you are able to create and manage API Tokens for your Erudus account. Within the portal, you can review each token's usage and amend the permissions of each token.
Things to know
Manufacturers and Wholesalers will need to contact the Erudus support team in order to be granted API Admin access. Each business will ideally have a sole dedicated contact who can be the business's API Admin. Once confirmed and the access is granted, the API portal will be accessible via the URL: api.erudus.com
- All tokens that are generated utilise the same call pool, which means businesses that have multiple API partners accessing their product data need to be aware that all of their partners are contributing towards the same call limit.
- API Access is granted in two ways: you grant either read or write access.
- Read access - Read-only access to the Erudus product data via API, unable to make any changes.
- Write access - Manufacturing API users are able to publish product data into Erudus via the Erudus API As a wholesaler API user, this access allows API users to add/remove and amend a wholesaler's product catalog.
We would suggest that wholesalers don't grant/request write access unless they want their partner to be able to modify their wholesaler product codes. As this could impact their product range within Erudus.
- Wholesalers managing product updates become more important than ever. Your product codes will be linked to specific product versions, and the API will pull the version of the product your code is linked to and not just the most recent version in the way the old API did. This can be done in two ways, either manually by managing product updates via the wholesaler dashboard or by using the Erudus Auto Stepping feature.

How to Manage API Tokens | Step 1
When accessing the API portal (api.erudus.com), select Manage API Tokens, and this will allow you to create a new API token that can be shared with an Integration or Integration Partner.

How to Manage API Tokens | Step 2
Once Manage API Tokens has been selected, you will be presented with the option to create an API token. To create the token, simply name the token. We would recommend that you name the tokens appropriately, as this will be key to identifying tokens when managing your API usage.

Once the token has been created, you'll see a pop up appear with the API token, it is important that you copy this token and understand that this is never surfaced again, you will not be able to find the exact token again once the pop up has closed down so we'd recommend copying this and saving the token externally if you require to re-use it.

How to Manage API Tokens | Step 3
Once the API token has been generated, you will see this appear in your created API tokens, as shown in the screenshot below:

You can find an overview of each token's usage by selecting API Token from the banner at the top of the page. This will present you with a way to generate new tokens or manage your existing tokens.

How to Manage API Tokens | Step 5
To amend the permissions of an API token or to delete the token, simply select from the buttons provided under the Manage API Token section, as shown in the screenshot below:

If you wanted to grant Read & Write access to a token that has previously been created with Read-only access, you can do so by selecting the Permissions button. This will provide you with a pop-up that allows you to easily select what access that specific token has.
