Adding Alternative Carbon Impact Data for Products
This guide will explain how, as a manufacturer, you can opt out of displaying the Mondra calculated environmental impact scores on your product specifications and supply your own impact data instead.
Why would I use my own data?
By default, the environmental impact figures shown on Erudus product specifications are calculated by Mondra using on-pack information. For a full explanation of how these are produced, see our guide on Environmental Impact Scores for Products.
Some manufacturers have already had their products assessed elsewhere. If you hold a carbon figure from your own life cycle assessment or from another provider, you may prefer to display that figure rather than the Mondra calculated one.
Erudus supports this. You can opt out of the Mondra calculated data and enter your own carbon value against your specifications, declaring where that figure came from so your customers can see the basis for it.
Step 1: Contact Erudus Support to opt out
Opting out is not a self-service setting. To begin, contact the Erudus Support team and request to opt out of displaying the Mondra calculated data.

Once the Support team has processed your request, the fields for entering your own impact data will become available on your specifications.
Step 2: Enter your impact data
Once you have been opted out:
- Log in to Erudus and go to your Manufacturer Dashboard.
- Open the product specification you want to update.
- Click the Impact button at the top of the page.
- In the Impact section you will now see fields for entering an alternative impact score.
- Complete the fields as described below.
Carbon value
Enter the carbon figure for the product as supplied by your provider. Enter the number only — the unit is selected separately.
Unit of measurement
Select the unit your figure is expressed in:

| kg CO2e per kg | Your figure is given in kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent per kilogram of product |
| g CO2e per g | Your figure is given in grams of carbon dioxide equivalent per gram of product |
Check the unit carefully. Selecting the wrong one will misrepresent your product's carbon footprint to every customer viewing the specification. If your figure is expressed in a different unit again, convert it before entering it.
Source of the score
Select the provider who calculated your figure from the list available. Declaring the source matters: it tells wholesalers and caterers viewing your specification where the figure came from and on what basis it was produced.
What if my provider isn't listed?
If the provider who calculated your figure does not appear in the list, contact the Erudus Support team and ask for them to be added.
