Allergen Emphasis
This guide will explain what Allergen Emphasis is and how it works within Erudus
What is Allergen Emphasis?
Allergen Emphasis refers to the way that certain allergens or dietary information is highlighted or presented within a product specification, often mirroring how they would appear on a physical product label. Its importance stems directly from food safety regulations and consumer protection.
What is Allergen Emphasis in Erudus?
Instead of just listing allergens, Erudus allows manufacturers to apply specific formatting or emphasis to them and will accept any form of emphasis which includes:
- Bold Text: Making the allergen stand out (e.g., Milk, Wheat).
- Underlining: (Though less common in digital display, it's a traditional labeling method.)
- Italics: (Less impactful, but can be used.)
- Capitalisation: (e.g., MILK, WHEAT)
The goal is to draw immediate attention to the presence of common allergens, usually within the ingredients list, in line with legal requirements.
Quick Overview

Applying allergen emphasis | Step 2
Once the allergen has been identified, you can emphasise in a number of ways, as mentioned earlier in the article. In Erudus, you can highlight and select the word in question and enable HTML Bold tags to emphasie it by selecting on the small B as shown in the screenshot below.
