New Specification Attribute - HFSS Product
9th August 2021
In order to more easily communicate and identify products that are high in saturated fat, salt, and sugar (HFSS) in line with upcoming government regulations, a new attribute has been added to the Erudus specification.
The attribute is titled "HFSS" and has a clear "Yes" or "No" value that can be applied. In order to determine whether a product is considered HFSS or not, The Department of Health's Nutrient Profiling Model must be applied to the product to give it a score. Any food product with a score of 4 or higher and any drink with a score of 1 or higher is designated as HFSS.
The data provided by manufacturers using this attribute will allow wholesaler users and their customers to easily identify which category the product falls into and assist them in adhering to the regulations and will result in fewer individual requests for data regarding HFSS products.
